About your Teacher

Karine is a graduate of Sorbonne Nouvelle University Paris 3 (lBachelor’s degree in Modern Literature, Master cinema) and holds a University Diploma in Teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE) from Bordeaux 3 University.

She has taught French in Mexico and in Nice, working with adults, teenagers, and children from many different countries, is teaching french in Hyères since 2015.

Karine speaks German, English, and Spanish, helping students feel comfortable and supported while learning French.

    I had such a lovely stay with Karin and her family. Sadly, I only had the time to stay for one week, but would have loved to stayed longer and would definitely like to return! Nonetheless, I felt I got so much out of my week in Hyères. Karin worked very hard to tailor my lessons every day to focus on whatever I wanted, always making sure that our work was in line with my exam requirements too. She gave me relevant work to prepare each day for my classes and was happy to give me however many lessons I wanted. We chatted lots in French generally, especially when we went to the beach each day with her son Alix (from whom I learnt an awful lot about French history which was interesting!), and also when we sat down every evening for a family meal – the conversation was always interesting! Karin was also kind enough to take me to see some beautiful markets in Hyères and invite me to a picnic on the beach which was lots of fun!     I have just returned from a wonderful week staying with Karin and her charming family who all went out of their way to make me feel at home.  As a 60 year old woman, I was looking for something more suited to my needs than a ‘one size fits all’ French course with group lessons and my stay with Karin was exactly what I had hoped for.
  • Having studied French at university many years ago, I have kept the language going to a certain extent but was looking for a week of full immersion with lively, cultured, conversation and the opportunity to iron out engrained grammatical errors I knew I was making.  As an experienced teacher, Karin was able to meet my needs perfectly and the many hours of French conversation I had with her, and her family, improved my vocabulary and idiomatic French enormously.  One night we went to the cinema to watch the newly released film J’Accuse which we analysed the following day with the help of a magazine review and that was a particularly enjoyable lesson.
  • Karen’s house is perfectly situated, within easy walking distance of the centre of Hyeres and close to bus routes which serve the nearby and beautiful beaches of the Gien Peninsula.  Further afield, the island of Porquerolles is a boat ride away.  The views of the coast from the old town of Hyeres were truly stunning and it came as no surprise to learn that Hyeres was a popular destination for the English during the late 1800’s.  I knew that Robert Louis Stevenson had travelled extensively in France but Karin shared with me a lovely quote of his which just about sums up the appeal of the place ‘I was only happy once: that was at Hyeres’.

    Pendant trois semaines j’ai visité quelques courses au french learning à Hyères. Je suis Allemande, ma professeur m’a classé à B1. Le méthode d’apprendre était très nouveau pour moi. On avait des thèmes mis d’accord mes intérêts . Et on parlait. Naturellement je faisais beaucoup des fautes. Mais au lieu de corriger tout de suite, Madame écrivait les phrases corrigées à un feuille de papier et je pouvais apprendre la bonne façon d’exprimer à la maison. C’était très effektive pour moi . Peu à peu je commençais de penser français, et les mots oubliés se réactivaient.

WO LERNT MAN AM BESTEN FRANZÖSISCH?
Selbstverständlich in Frankreich, würde man doch gleich sagen. Aber so einfach ist das leider nicht, denn schon nach den ersten verlegen ausgebreiteten Französischbrocken, die man von der Schule oder diversen Urlauben auf Lager hat, ist Schluss mit Lustig. Man gerät bei Franzosen danach leicht in den Verdacht, der französischen Sprache mächtig zu sein und darüber sind sie so erfreut, dass sie sofort in ihrer Landessprache mit dem entsprechenden Tempo zu sprechen beginnen. Und ich? Ich verstehe nur noch Bahnhof.
Das kennen Sie?
Dann werden Sie mir nachfühlen können, welche Freude ich spürte, nach langem Suchen und Fragen in Hyères (Var – meine Lieblingsgegend) eine fantastische Möglichkeit für einen Nachhilfeunterricht in der gesprochenen französischen Sprache zu entdecken. KARIN T (von « l’école de français de Hyères »), eine blitzgescheite, hilfsbereite und erfahrene Lehrerin hilft weiter. Das Pünktchen auf dem i bei ihr: sie versteht und spricht Deutsch, für Rückfragen in Grammatik (ich bin Grammatik-Fan und würde liebend gerne „richtig“ sprechen…) und speziellen Erklärungen des tieferen Sinns diverser Ausdrücke oder Redewendungen (sehr anzuraten, denn es gibt diverse Fettnäpfchen, in die wir Deutsche gern hineinsteigen wie z.B. die peinlichen „faux amis“, über die ich in der Schule nicht genügend aufgeklärt wurde). Karin ist für mich ein wahrer Glückstreffer gewesen. Bei ihr bleibt keine Frage unbeantwortet. Und wer gern aus dem Handgelenk lernt, geht mit ihr durch Hyères spazieren und erfährt das richtige Straßenleben und lernt auch, die Speisekarten zu verstehen, was mir z.B. sehr wichtig war, denn ich gehe gern essen, aber ich weiß auch gerne, was ich mir unter den französischen Namen der Gerichte vorzustellen habe.
Das highlight aber ist der Unterricht in ihrem unvorstellbar gemütlichen Häuschen mit dem romantischen Garten und den Zitronen und Orangenbäumen mitten in Hyères, wo man sich schon gleich beim Eintreten in La Belle France fühlen kann.
Das einzige, was mir richtig leid tut ist, dass ich ihre Werbekarte erst nach fünf Jahren regelmäßigem Ferien-Aufenthalt und viel Herumgestotter gefunden habe – im untersten Fach des Office de tourisme! Nicht sehr touristenfreundlich, wie ich meine! Ich wäre sonst sicher schon perfekt. Aber so habe ich nun wenigstens weitere und sehr gute Gründe, regelmäßig nach Hyères zu reisen.
Also – WO LERNT MAN AM BESTEN FRANZÖSISCH? In Hyères auf jeden Fall bei Karin T !

    Ha sido una experiencia maravillosa mi estancia en casa de Karine.Las clases adaptadas a las competencias que necesitaba mejorar o trabajar para el año que viene han resultado ser de gran ayuda.Además,hemos trabajado tanto el oral,com o la expresión escrita como la comprensión oral.Las clases han sido muy variadas y entretenidas.La conviencia con toda la familia ha sido excepcional y hemos visitado las playas de los alrededores,la villa Noailles,el centro de Hyères…

    My husband and I have been working with Karin once a week for two months now. We are not progressing at the rate we should be because we only meet with her once a week and we don’t praWilliamctice outside of class.
